About the Artist: Chris DeRubeis

Chris DeRubeis (b. 1978, Santa Clarita, CA) is an internationally recognized contemporary artist celebrated as the Father of Abstract Sensualism®. His artistic journey began at 13 when his grandfather gave him his first airbrush, sparking a lifelong passion for creating. After formal studies at Pasadena Art Center and Associates in Art, DeRubeis initially painted custom Harley-Davidson motorcycles before discovering his true calling on metal.

A pivotal moment came when grinding paint from a gas tank revealed mesmerizing reflective patterns, inspiring him to use metal not only as a medium but as a co-creator in his art. Through years of experimentation with fire, chemicals, freezing, and grinding, DeRubeis developed a style unlike any other—artworks that merge painting and sculpture into a fluid, light-driven experience.

Today, DeRubeis’s work is showcased in galleries worldwide, celebrated by collectors, and recognized with honors such as the MUSE Award for “New Movement.” His art has even reached beyond galleries, with commissions including a commemorative piece for Lamborghini’s 60th anniversary.
